Scout HDC-15 AI Fleet Dash Cam – A Comprehensive Fleet Safety Solution in Compact Packaging

Commercial vehicles, whether mission-critical or central to the business model, come with major cost commitments. This includes unavoidable maintenance costs and uncontrollable rising fuel costs. When you have a fleet, these costs are (naturally) multiplied. It’s already a discouraging “cost of doing business” equation, so why add “preventable disasters” to it as well? The right fleet dash cam can offer significant liability protection, lower accident-related costs, and insurance costs, as well as protect the vehicle, driver, and, by extension, the business in a range of scenarios. The HDC-15 AI Fleet Mini Cam more than fits the bill because it offers all these benefits (and more) at a reasonable upfront and monthly cost.

Scout HDC-15 AI Powered Fleet Dash Cam

Scout HDC-15 is a fleet dash cam with a tiny footprint (4.33 x 2.66 inches), making it one of the smallest 4G connected fleet dash cams on the market. This ensures minimal obstruction to the driver’s view and allows for more flexible placement compared to bulkier solutions. With it’s integrated front-facing camera and the ability to add any optional second camera of your choosing, Scout suits a wide range of commercial applications.

Standard Features

The standard features of this fleet dash cam include:

  • Miniature all-in-one housing design with integrated Ai processing
  • Eceptional heat dissipation for reliable windshield mount performance
  • Integrated 4G LTE, WiFi & GPS antennas for maximum performance
  • High definition 1080p camera with crisp video quality
  • High-Efficiency Video Coding (H.265) to ensure efficient video storage and transmission.
  • Simple peel & stick self-installation
  • Integrated audio microphone captures live audio
  • Integrated speaker for driver coaching and two way voice dispatch
  • SOS button for driver emergency or to mark video event
  • Integrated accelerometer for harsh driving alerts
  • WiFi hot spot for sharing connectivity

GPS Tracking, Live Video Streaming & Video History

Scout HDC-15’s integrated GPS tracking capability provides the full slate of GPS Commander cloud-based tracking features with 10 second GPS updates and 12 months of GPS tracking history and playback. The system includes Google Maps with geofencing, configurable alerts and a wide range of reports, including IFTA, speeding, engine idling, trips and parkings, etc.

In addition to its powerful GPS features, the HDC-15 incorporates the VSS (Video Safety System) dashboard, providing a wide array of easy-to-use video functions, including live video streaming, camera snapshots, video evidence dashboard and historical video replay. Supervisors can quickly review snippets of video that were automatically sent to the Evidence Dashboard according to user predefined events. In addition, in the event of an accident or incident, supervisors can remotely download video stored on the device over-the-air, allowing for corroboration of video evidence in legal matters (captured/streamed by the fleet dash cam) and offering a richer picture of the fleet movement to the business.

Optional Available Add-On Cameras

The HDC-15 can be used in its standard form with its forward-facing road camera, or a second plug & play camera can be plugged in to suit a wide range of applications:

Rear Weatherproof Camera

A weatherproof rear camera can be added at the rear of the vehicle to reduce false damage claims in industries such as automotive towing or for capturing proof of delivery in a wide range of trucking and service industries.

Mini Dome Camera

A mini-dome camera can be used to capture passenger behavior in medical transportation and bus transportation, or to capture inventory theft in service vehicles.

Interior Camera

The optional 3m windshield mount interior camera with integrated infrared night lighting can be used for recording driver and passenger behavior and it also supports DSM (driver safety monitoring) when the dash cam is licenced for driver-facing Ai technology.

plug&play_dash_cam_cable

An optional quick connect cable is available to suit all vehicle types, allowing for a 15 minute self installation. Simply peel & stick the dash cam to the windshield, run the cable down the A- Pillar and plug it into the engine ECM interface.

Ai Artificial Intelligence Capabilities

Scout’s on-board Ai processing that can be licenced over-the-air at any time for ADAS and/or DSM capabilities, either at time of sale or anytime thereafter at a small one-time cost. Why pay for Ai if you don’t need it? This gives the future-proof assurance that the Scout HDC-15 can grow with you as your needs and budget allow. If you elect to license the Ai algoritm, you may choose forward-facing Ai, called ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance) or driver-facing Ai, called DSM (Driver Safety Monitoring) or you may choose both. Needless to say, if you wish to activate the DSM, you’ll need the interior-facing camera option.

ADAS Features:

  • Follow-Too-Close
  • Collision Warning
  • Pedestrian Warning

DSM Features:

  • Driver Smoking
  • Driver Smartphone Use
  • Seatbelt Compliance
  • Driver Distraction
  • Driver Fatigue

How Does Ai Work?

When you activate the Ai Algorithm for a small incremental one-time cost, you may set predefined rules that causeone or more of the following things to occur:

  • Announce the infraction to the driver (Eg, “Please fasten your seatbelt”)
  • Send snapshots of one or more cameras to the cloud
  • Send a few seconds of video of the infraction to the cloud

These predefined events automatically show up in the Evidence Dashboard, where a Supervisor can review them. They can also be shared with a QR code or Link externally. The person that you send the QR code or link to can then watch the actual event as it occurred. They do not need log-in credentials to observe the event -they simply click on the link and watch the evidence. The shared link can be set to expire in xx minutes or hours. It’s all very simple and easy to use. For example, the event could be sent to the driver that caused the infraction for training purposes.

Conclusion

The Scout HDC-15 offers fleets a much more comprehensive security profile than standard fleet dash cams and GPS monitoring services. This augments the conventional legal and liability protection these systems offer with its preventive scope. It also broadens the scope of fleet monitoring (both external and internal) by leveraging AI to track a broader range of risks on the road and reckless and unwanted behavior inside the cabin.
